Thank you for participating in this important process of nominating PABJ's 2019 award honorees & scholarship recipients.

There are a lot of good people doing excellent good work.  But we are not awarding for general excellence.  We are honoring people for excellence as referenced in the criteria.  Being specific and providing examples helps our judges fully consider each candidate.

Community Service Award Criteria

Awarded to a journalist, member of the media or community person who has had a positive impact on African Americans or Black people of African descent. If the nominee is a journalist, his or her community service must be rooted in work done outside the typical realm of journalism.

Media Professional Award Criteria

Awarded to a Black public relations, advertising, marketing or strategic communications professional whose work facilitates or generates significant coverage of stories that impact Black people. The candidate must demonstrate overall excellence in their field.

Awarded to a Black journalist who produced work during the 2017 calendar year that was extraordinary in depth, scope or signi├┐cance to African Americans or Black people of African descent. The honoree is to be selected from broadcast, print or online ├┐elds, at the discretion of the awards committee and executive board.
